Tips to figure out who's who among your feathered friends!

“What kind of duck is that?”

You've probably asked this question plenty of times when watching birds near water. Ducks (or any bird) can be hard to identify. They may be far away. They may be moving quickly. They may have colors that confuse you. One way to identify waterfowl is to use a field guide. A field guide is a book with tips on finding and identifying birds. It's filled with pictures and names of birds found in a large area, such as Eastern North America.

One of the entries you'll find in a field guide is Field Marks—what the bird looks like.
