Every animal is wild for a certain kind of food: plants, meat or both. If animals could hang out where their favorite foods are served, here's where we'd find them...
Herbivore Eatery This is a hot spot for plant-eating animals, called herbivores (ERH buh voorz). Green, growing things make up the menu here. Herbivores may order up plant leaves, stems, seeds, fruits, flowers or roots. Their diet often changes as the seasons change. This place can get pretty crowded: more animals eat plants than any other food. Once they're here, customers hog the tables, too. Herbivores have to eat A LOT of plant material to get the energy they need. They spend more time eating than doing anything else! You might think the customers here are only small animals, who don't need to eat very much. Think again! Some of Earth's largest animals are herbivores. Just check out the moose at the counter!
